Warranty

We offer a FREE 12 month warranty with every tech item we sell to give you extra peace of mind.

Note: Your FREE 12 Month Warranty begins on the day you place your order.

All categories of Tech item available to purchase on the SmartTechTrade Store are covered by our own 12 Month Warranty that is free to you at the point of sale. The 12 Month Warranty begins on the date that the order is placed.

All Tech items are covered for 12 months against defects that may be caused or arise from:

  • Technical Defects – faults or defects that arise outside of the manufacturer’s technical specifications and guidance
  • Faults of Defects caused by improper workmanship or materials

If a defect or fault has developed within the warranty period, you must initiate a return of your device back to us by contacting us using a Contact us form and completing the returns form.

Once your device has been received back, examined and the fault(s) identified, we will:

a) Attempt to repair your device. If this is unsuccessful, or cannot be repaired due to the nature of the fault, we will:

b) Attempt to source a like-for-like replacement device, depending on the stock levels at the time a replacement is sourced. The specifications of the replacement device must be equal to the specifications of the original device purchased. If we are unable to source a replacement device we will:

c) Fully refund the original purchase price. This full amount will be credited back to your original payment method.

d) If you are returning a faulty device under the 12 Month Warranty and have requested a full refund within 30 days of the original purchase date, we will aim to process this in line with our Refund Policy stated in Refund Policy Section. If a refund is requested after 30 days of the original purchase date, we will follow the Warranty process outlined in steps A, B and C above.

When a device has been replaced under warranty:

  • Ownership of the replacement device will be transferred to you. We will retain the original device and you will be unable to request for the original device to be returned to you.
  • Any time remaining on the 12 Month Warranty will be transferred to the replacement device.

You will not be able to claim under the 12 Month Warranty for (including, but not limited to):

  • Instances of accidental damage at the discretion of our Warranty Repair team, including damage caused by liquid;
  • Any cosmetic damage to screens, fascias and surrounds, such as casing, including instances of discolouration, fading, scratches, cracks, chips, snaps and dead pixels;
  • Issues that arise due to tampering; misuse; unauthorised adjustments, or the download/implementation of unauthorised, malicious or illegal software by the owner of the device, or any third party, excluding any companies or third parties that SmartTechTrade have a working relationship with. This includes instances of jailbreaking and network unlocking;
  • Any loss or damage to data on your device;
  • Faults that arise as a result of pairing the device with another external product.

If any devices are found to be in breach of a warranty claim, your 12 Month Warranty will be voided and the device will be returned back to you.

Any devices that have been repaired or replaced under our 12 Month Warranty will be re-packaged and sent back to your address on a Royal Mail 48 tracked service.

How to claim on your 12 Month Warranty

Contact us using the contact form on the website and follow the instructions to complete your online returns form to obtain a Royal Mail 48 tracked returns label. If you’re unable to complete the returns form, please let us know with the email subject: ‘Warranty Repair + your order number’.

Please follow the returns and packaging instructions carefully before sending your device back to us: Ensure that any external accessories such as (including, but not limited to): SIM cards, external memory cards, headphones, screen protectors and/or cases (where applicable) are removed before returning your device. Any external accessories such as the examples outlined above will be removed and disposed of during the Warranty process and will not be returned. SmartTechTrade cannot be held liable for any losses pertaining to the disposal of any such accessories during the Warranty process.

  • Ensure that your device is suitably packaged so as to minimise any damage that may occur in transit. SmartTechTrade cannot be held responsible for any damage that is found to have been caused by insufficient or insecure packaging whilst in transit.
  • You will be responsible for any cost of returns label and ensure return label is clearly printed out and the barcode is visible on the returns packaging. Any obscurities of the barcode may result in the package being rejected at the Post Office.
  • Ensure that you request to be given a tracking receipt once your returns package has been handed over to the Post Office. This contains your 13-digit tracking number and must be kept as proof of return.

Once your returned device has been received by us, a confirmation email of receipt of the return will be sent to the email address registered to your SmartTechTrade account. We will aim to process your return and communicate the appropriate outcome based on the warranty claim within 2 – 3 working days of receiving the item in question, subject to our Returns Policy.

If we discover any fault(s) or supplementary fault(s) not previously mentioned and that is not covered by the 12 Month Warranty, your warranty will be voided and we will arrange for your device to be returned to you at no extra cost.

  • Liquid damage
  • Issues caused by third party software
  • Issues caused by unlocking your device
  • Any components added since the item was originally sold to you.

Kindly take note that your warranty will be nullified, and the device will be returned to you under the following circumstances:

  • If we discover proof that the device has been interfered with, opened, or repaired by the owner of the device or any unauthorized third party,
  • If we identify any additional defects in the device, as listed in the aforementioned section.
    Please be aware that SmartTechTrade cannot be held liable for any expenses incurred while unlocking a network-locked device that was sold.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that your item is packaged securely to prevent any damage during transit, as we cannot be held responsible for any harm caused by inadequate packaging.

Risk and Title

The products will be at your risk from the time of delivery but ownership of the ordered products will only pass to you when we receive full payment of all sums due in respect of the ordered items, including delivery charges.

Availbility and Delivery

Your order will be fulfilled as soon as possible after your order is accepted and in any event within 14 days of receipt of the order. All delivery times quoted on the website are estimates only, based on availability, normal processing and delivery companies. As standard, we advise a period of 3-7 business days for delivery of your order. However, during exceptionally busy periods such as Christmas, we cannot guarantee these timescales due to circumstances (such as postal issues) beyond our control. Please allow extra time for delivery of your order to avoid disappointment.

You will become the owner of the goods you have ordered when the goods are dispatched to you from our premises.

Delivery of Phones and Tech Items

Tech items purchased from the Smart Tech Trade Store are delivered via either Royal Mail 24 (next working day) or Royal Mail 48. These services deliver items 24 or 48 hours after Royal Mail has received the items.

Any orders made before 2pm* will be delivered within 24 or 48 hours of the order being placed, depending on which service is chosen. Orders made after 2pm will be dispatched the next working day and will arrive either 24 or 48 hours after this time. Orders placed on a Friday will arrive on Tuesday. Tracking will be provided for all orders.  

On rare occasions, deliveries may be delayed once they're in the delivery network due to circumstances beyond our control. 

In the event of a parcel becoming lost or stolen in transit, we will need to open an investigation with the courier. We shall be entitled to make such investigations as we deem necessary to satisfy ourselves of the validity of any such claim. In doing so, we will not attempt to make a refund or send a replacement until the conclusion of the investigation, which can take upto 21 Days.

Price and Payment

Our website displays the current price for all products, unless an obvious error occurs. For customers in the UK, the displayed price includes VAT, duties, and applicable local taxes.

Although prices are subject to change, any orders for which we have sent a Dispatch Confirmation will not be affected by these changes.

Despite our best efforts, errors may occur in the pricing of some products on our website. If an error is obvious and unmistakeable and could have been recognized by you as a mispricing, we are not obligated to provide the product at the incorrect, lower price.

We accept payment for all orders using credit/debit cards or PayPal accounts. However, we currently do not accept American Express. Once you have completed your transaction online, we charge your chosen payment method.

By making a purchase on our website, you confirm that the credit/debit card or PayPal account used belongs to you. All payment methods are subject to validation checks and authorization by the card or account issuer. If the issuer refuses or fails to authorize payment, we will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery.

Return Policy

1.1.  When you return a product to us because you have cancelled the Contract between us within the 14 working day cooling off period, set out in Condition 6, we will process the refund due to you as soon as possible and, in any case, within 30 days of the day you have given notice of your cancellation (subject always to us having received the product back from you). In this case, we will refund the price of the item in full of sending the product to you. However, you will be responsible for the cost of returning the item to us. Please ask for proof of postage when returning your item. Keep this proof in a safe place, as you’ll need it if your item goes missing in transit.

1.2.  When you return a product to us because you claim that the item is defective, we will examine the returned product and will notify you of your refund via email within a reasonable period of time.

1.3.  If you are returning an item purchased in a discounted or promotional offer all items purchased in any offer or combined product are part of the same contract and have to be returned if you wish to receive a full refund. If all the items are not returned the refund will be adjusted accordingly. To partially cancel your order for a combined product you will need to contact our Customer Services team.

1.4.  When you return a product to us because you claim that it has been damaged in transit, you should also return the packaging in which it was delivered, together with any notification of damage which you may have received from the postal service who delivered it. We will examine the items to assure ourselves that we believe the damage, which it may have sustained, is consistent with the sort of damage which could occur during transit, and will notify you of your refund by email within a reasonable period of time.

1.5.  If we agree that the product is defective, under Condition 10.2 or 10.3, we will usually process the refund due to you as soon as possible and, in any case, within 7 days of the day we confirmed to you via e-mail that you are entitled to a refund for the defective product. Products returned by you because of an agreed defect will be refunded in full, including a refund of any delivery charges for sending the item to you and the cost incurred by you in returning the item to us (if made known to us).

1.6.  If you do not receive goods ordered by you within 14 days of the date on which they were despatched to you, we shall have no liability to you unless you notify us in writing at the contact address of the problem within 24 days of the date on which the goods were despatched to you.

1.7.  If the goods delivered are not what you ordered or are damaged or defective you notify us in writing at the contact address within 10 working days of the delivery of goods in question.

1.8.  In all cases, any refunds to you will usually be made using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase.

1.9 If goods are returned and need to be refunded, no other costs will be refunded. This includes, but is not limited to, accessories for Tech products and any network provider costs.

Our Liability

Our liability for losses you suffer as a result of us breaking this agreement is strictly limited to the purchase price of the product you purchased.

We warrant to you that any product purchased from us through our site is of satisfactory quality and reasonably fit for all the purposes for which products of the kind are commonly supplied.
This does not include or limit in any way our liability: (a) For death or personal injury caused by our negligence;(b) Under section 2(3) of the Consumer Protection Act 1987; (c) For fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (d) For any matter for which it would be illegal for us to exclude, or attempt to exclude, our liability.

We are not responsible for indirect losses which happen as a side effect of the main loss or damage and which are not foreseeable by you and us (such as loss of income or revenue, loss of business, loss of profits or contracts, loss of anticipated savings, loss of data, waste of management or office time) however arising and whether caused by tort (including negligence), breach of contract or otherwise, even if foreseeable.

Written Communications

Applicable laws require that some of the information or communications we send to you should be in writing. When using our site, you accept that communication with us will be mainly electronic. We will contact you by e-mail or provide you with information by posting notices on our website. For contractual purposes, you agree to this electronic means of communication and you acknowledge that all contracts, notices, information and other communications that we provide to you electronically comply with any legal requirement that such communications be in writing. This condition does not affect your statutory rights.

Service Availability

Our site is only intended for use by people resident in the UK. We do not accept orders from individuals outside the UK. A valid UK postcode must be used for the delivery address.

Promotions

All promotions on the Smart Tech Trade Store can only be used as a one off code, unless otherwise stated in the original source of advertisement. SmartTechTrade also reserves the right to withdraw or extend a promotion at any given time.

Promotions cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion and the promotion that gives the highest discount will override any other additional promotion used during the checkout process.

Each promotion may have specific conditions and exclusions such as: selected titles or New Products etc. The original marketing advertisement should be checked for specific promotional terms and conditions.

We are unable to provide promotional discount to an order which has been completed without use of a promotional code having been applied during checkout, by way of refund. Likewise, promotional discount will under no circumstances be applied to historic orders.

We do our best to ensure that promotions function as advertised but in light of any genuine and honest mistake with promotions setup, Smart Tech Trade is under no obligation to fulfil orders which were created during such ‘false’ promotions.

All promotions, offers and discount are subject to product availability. Once stock levels of a particular product in a given offer have been exhausted, SmartTechTrade is under no obligation to supply the product at the promotional price once the product is back in stock if that promotion/offer has since ended.

When contacting us by email please ensure that you include your Order Number in the body of the email. We would also recommend in the first instance checking out our Help articles which deal with a few of the common questions that we receive.

If you should for any reason have any complaints you can contact us via Contact form on our website. All complaints correspondence will be dealt with via email or letter and we will acknowledge and respond to the initial complaint within two (2) Working Days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can appeal against this. We will respond to all appeals within three (3) Working Days and issue our final response.
